Research Activities for the "Strengthening Local Democracy Support'' Project

The main goal of the Strengthening Local Democracy Support Project is to strengthen the direct democracy mechanisms for citizen participation on local level.

In order to fulfill the main goal, Strategic Development Consulting through research and participatory activities will analyze the available mechanisms for citizen participation and the current citizen practices for participation in the public policies creation and decision-making processes on local level. The expected findings will reflect stakeholders’ behavior regarding the subject which will help the process of creation of mutual solutions for local improvement. Beside increasing the public participation within the local policy development, this project will contribute to improvement of their overall position for effective representation of target groups ‘interests as well as strengthening their institutional and financial sustainability.

Target Groups: CSOs, Local Governments, informal groups and citizens.

Key Activities:

• Desktop Research;
• Data Gathering activities (interviews, focus groups, survey);
• Data Analyses and Preparation of Analyses of the mechanisms for citizen participation;
• Preparation of Policy Brief.
